The New York Energy Research and Development Authority is hosting the State of the Science Workshop on Offshore Wind Energy. The State of the Science Workshop 2020 Cumulative Impacts to Wildlife will be in Rye Brook, NY on May 5-6, 2020. The workshop will identify key studies that could be conducted in the near future and will assess the knowledge of offshore wind development’s cumulative impacts on ecosystems and populations. Registration and additional information about the two-day workshop can be found here.
On September 13, 2019 NYSERDA held two commercial fishing focused webinars to learn more about New York’s recently awarded offshore wind projects. The webinars briefly described the procurement process, Fishing Mitigation Plan requirements, how the New York State Fishing Technical Working Group (F-TWG) will engage with developers to evolve those plans, and more about how the selected developers will be working with the commercial fishing community to understand and minimize impacts of the projects.
